I'm really excited about this one! I made this little beaded coin purse for my friend for her birthday this month. I have been inspired by medieval beadwork for ages and really wanted to do something reminiscent! The flow of this "fabric" feels so incredible and it's actually pretty sturdy since the beads are individually stitched to each other. 🏡 I can't take credit for this beautiful table because it is another wonderful work by my mom! It was a birthday gift and the perfect addition to my kitchen. I ended up adding some paint to the top to match the easel but she did all the hard parts! I did, however, make the stools that go along with it. These are another project I would love to make full-scale someday. 🏡 Okay I think this actually the first thing that I made for my dollhouse. This easel was made from basal wood sticks. The canvases are cardboard covered with a tightly woven fabric. I prepped and painted them like I would have a real painting and there is even an underpainting on display on the easel. The rag is a scrap from my actual paint rag (which is an old t-shirt), and the paper towels are just that. ⭐BONUS⭐ The last picture is an incredible knitting and sewing basket that my beautiful mother made me at the start of my project! She even knit a tiny item for it 🥹 I believe she used half a styrofoam ball for the base. 🏡 This couch was one of the more difficult items to make for my dollhouse! I really wanted to have a delicate and ornate piece to contrast some of the more modern stuff. My solution was to "sculpt" the illusion of detail with a gel medium you're supposed to add to paint. Otherwise it's cardboard with sponge cushions and a hand-sewn textured back. 🏡 Another early piece for my dollhouse! I would love to someday make one of the curio cabinet coffee tables for real, but for now I made a mini one! This is mostly made from toothpicks and little bits of wood. The lid is a clear bit of plastic I found, and the hinges are just paper. I think it was actually a church pew or something, but I added some velvet cushions for ✨whimsey✨. The little writing desk was made from a thread spool and some cardboard. 🏠The Dollhouse Bed!! One of the first things that I made for my dollhouse! I spent a lot of time trying to make it look like the comfiest one in existence. I specifically wanted to source a fabric for the bed spread with stripes to scale. (I ended up cutting up a skirt from the thrift.) The bed frame is made from some craft wood that I stained and painted and the pattern was from this awesome dollhouse book we've had as long as I can remember. I knitted the throw and had my brother 3D print the laptop adorning the bed. I'm back with some requested close ups of my doll house! This book shelf I made earlier this year to display some of my cutest miniature items. It's made from a cardboard base that I covered in spackle to smooth and fill any gaps. I then painted it in these candy-bright colors! The books are mostly made up from a kit I received years ago and the records are just bits of printed paper and a plastic lid. I made this lamp for my sister for a house-warming gift! Since she lives in a different state, I made the panels at home first, packed into my carry-on, and assembled them in her apartment later. I was in a hurry so I didn't take many pictures of the process, but I basically made balsa wood frames and layered sheets of tissue paper and plants into it, meshing them together with watered down modge podge. The ferns and wildflowers were locally collected last summer and I've had them nicely dried and pressed flat. An illustration I finished today of two of my favorite jazz-influenced musicians, Laufey and RAYE. I saw a video of them preforming together at one of their shows, and I was struck by how well their appearances contrasted each other. Repairing Your Clothing Is Punk! I have these old Carhartt jeans that I got from the thrift ages ago. The first change came from needing to alter their fit a bit. From then on I've continuously patched holes that appear with Sashiko style repairs and my favorite fabrics. I also used embroidery floss today to cover up the wear in one of my favorite flannels. Fun Fact: The color scheme of the cover art, (and the entire background base actually), came from a picture I took of the Aurora Borealis last night.
